Emelie Ann Diller

Emelie A. Diller, 89, lifelong resident of Decatur, IL passed away on February 6, 2011.

A service to celebrate Emelie’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday (Feb. 11, 2011) at Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Friday. She was a retired, longtime draftsperson of the Illinois Power Company where she worked as the only woman for many years. Emelie was the loving youngest daughter of her parents, Hulda and Alfred Diller, caring for them until their passing. She was an active member for years of her Sunday school class at First Baptist Church and sang in the choir. Auntie Em amassed a mantel of tennis trophies during her youth and played some for Millikin University. She loved the outdoors, the sun, flowers and animals. Neighborhood birds came to her yard for food. Thanks to the Heartland staff and to Dale and Judy Lock for their help and care of Emelie in her later years.

She was a devoted aunt of Lois (Ron Ernst) and Marilyn of her late brother Walter, of Judy (Bob) Shierlock, Doug (Sandy), and Scott (Cindy) of her late brother Alfred. Great and great-great aunt of their children. Emelie passed only months after her sister Winifred.
